Colour INKspiration Challenge #94 feat. Brushed Blossoms Bundle from Stampin' Up! ®

Hello and thanks for popping in! Nothing like a new challenge to make you realise the weeks are clicking over way too fast!

My card for this challenge features the Brushed Blossoms Bundle.  I've also added a few die cut leaves using the detailed leaf die from Perennial Petals die set.  I absolutely loved the colours in this challenge!

 Supplies Needed:

  • Brushed Blossoms Bundle, Perennial Petals Dies
  • Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, Very Vanilla
  • Inks: Seaside Spray
  • Stampin' Blends Alcohol Pens: Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen
  • Atistic Blooms Adhesive Backed Sequins
  • Adhesives:  Mini Dimensionals, Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Tools:  Mini Cut & Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer

Assembling The Card:

Stamp the smaller brushstroke stamp on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that measures 1/2" smaller on two sides than your card front, in Seaside Spray ink.  Stamp both first and second generation for added depth.

Attach this to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Mine is only 1/16" larger on two sides than the piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  This is going to give you a very fine border.

Die cut two sets of the large flowers in Misty Moonlight cardstock.  Using both the dark and light Mistly Moonlight Stampin' Blends, colour the top layer in the dark, and the middle layer in the light. This will give you three tones of Misty Moonlight colour.

Die cut one set of the small flowers in Mango Melody cardstock and using both the dark and light Mango Melody Stampin' Blends, colour the top layer in the dark and the middle layer in the light.  Again, this is going to give you three tones of Mango Melody.

Die cut three sets of the leaf die in Crumb Cake cardstock and using the dark Crumb Cake Stampin Blens, colour only the top layer.  This is going to give you two tones of Crumb Cake.

Die cut two of the detailed leaves from the Perennial Petals Dies and colour both of these with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. Trim the leaves from the stems.  You only need to colour the leaves and not the stems as the stems are not needed.

Using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, assemble the flowers and leaves.

Arrange your pieces and attach all except the detailed leaves with Mini Dimensionals.  I used Tombow glue to adhere these down under my flowers.

Lastly, I added a few sequins from the Artistry Blooms Sequins.

A view of the layers.

This card is a great one for using up scraps and by using the Stampin' Blends, you are achieving depth and dimension to your die cuts without using different coloured cardstock.

Masculine Birthday Card featuring In Good Taste DSP

Hello friends, and thanks for popping in!

This is a card I created for my uncle's 80th Birthday and boy, do I find masculine cards a challenge.  Once I knew where I was heading, it was a breeze but getting that first inkling of an idea was a struggle.

It features In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) and also the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper which I flipped to use the white side.  My sentiment is custom made using 'Happy Birthday' from Many Mates stamp set and the 8,0 and th from Family Party stamp set.

Supplies Needed:
  • Stamp Sets: Many Mates, Family Party
  • Dies: Painted Labels
  • Cardstock: Crumb Cake (card base), Early Esspresso (matte layer), Smoky Slate (sentiment)
  • DSP:  In Good Taste, Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper
  • Ink:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
  • Stampin' Write Marker:  Early Espresso
  • Adhesives:  Dimensionals/Foam Adhesive Sheets, Tombow Multipurpose Glue
  • Tools:  Blending Brushes, Paper Trimmer, Cut & Emboss Machine, Stamparatus
How To Assemble:
  • Cut a card base in Crumb Cake with a landscape orientation.
  • Cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock 5/8" smaller on two sides than your card front.
  • Cut a piece of co-ordinating DSP 3/4" smaller on two sides than your piece of Early Espresso cardstock.
  • I added a little bit of Crumb Cake Ink to the top left and bottom right of my DSP where my leaves would be to bring a little bit of the card base colour into the DSP.
  •  Adhere your cardstock and DSP together using Tombow glue and then adhere this to your card front using either Dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets.
  • Take a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock measuring at least 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and using the Family Party stamp set, stamp '80th' in the centre with Early Espresso ink.
  • To stamp the Happy Birthday, I used my Stampin' Write Marker and masking the 'Birthday', I coloured the 'Happy' with the marker and stamped this above the '80th'.  I then did the opposite for stamping the 'Birthday' ie masking the 'Happy', colouring then stamping the 'Birthday'.    If you still have a stamp-a-ma-jig, you could use this to get accurate placement.  I use the same technique with a piece of quilters plastic and my Stamparatus.
  • Die cut this piece using the cornered rectangle die from the Painted Labels Dies.
  • Glue this onto one of the pieces from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, putting the gold side down.
  • Adhere this piece down to your card front using either Dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets.
  • After finishing my card, I wished I had blended a little bit of Early Espresso ink around the edges of my sentiment but I'm still happy with how it turned out.
  • I used left over pieces of Foam Adhesive Sheets that I had die cut letters from.  I always keeps those pieces to use in projects like this.  One side will still have the peel away backing and I use Tombow Glue to stick down the other side.
