Creating Kindness Around The World - Clean & Simple Design feat Dragonfly Dreams

I am thrilled to have been asked to be Guest Designer for the Creating Kindness Around the World Blog Hop this month.  I want to thank the regular Team members for the very warm welcome they have given me.

The theme for October is Clean And Simple (CAS) and I loved the challenge of creating a card with this in mind- it's a style I adore but struggle to execute, my cards are usually anything but!

The Stamp Set I have chosen to work with is Dragonfly Garden which is available in our 2021-22 Annual Catalogue. I also grabbed out the Kraft 6" x 6" Paper from the J - D Mini Catalogue.

 Supplies Needed:

  • Stamp Set: Dragonfly Dreams
  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles, Stitched So Sweetly
  • Cardstock:  Basic White Thick (card base), Kraft 6" x 6"
  • Ink:  Stazon, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Accessories: White Stampin' Chalk Marker
  • Tools:  Mini or Regular Stamp & Cut Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer
  • Adhesives:  Tombow Multipurpose Glue

To create the stitched square and the scalloped squares for the front of the card, I die cut a full scalloped rectangle from Stitched  So Sweetly Dies and a full stitched rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle Dies then cut it down with the same die being careful to roll it through the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine to only go over that edge.

Stamp the image on the square piece of Kraft paper in Stazon back ink and use the White Chalk Marker to colour the flowers. You could also use the Craft Ink Refill and a Water Painter or brush if you don't have the Chalk Marker.  I used the White Chalk Marker again to add some splatters for texture.

Create a card base with Basic White Thick cardstock.  Glue the scalloped square and your stamped image to the square piece of Kraft paper and attach this to the front of your card with Dimensionals.

Stamp your sentiment below and to the right of where you've placed your stamped image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink or you could easily use Stazon Black ink again.

And that's it!  Clean And Simple!

Cheerful Christmas featuring Words Of Cheer - World Card Making Day 2021

Hello crafty friends and welcome to World Card Making Day 2021!

As part of the celebrations, I was asked by the amazing Vicky Wright, who is a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, to do a video presentation for a Facbook Group that mostly she has put together.

The card I presented features the Words of Cheer Bundle and I've used the large floral image.  I've also used the Gingerbread & Peppermint Memories and More Cards & Envelopes Pack as part of my card.

 Supplies Needed:

  • Words of Cheer Bundle
  • Gingerbread & Peppermint Memories and More Cards & Envelopes
  • Cardstock:
    • Rich Razzleberry (cardbase)
    • Basic Black mat layer measuring 3/8" less on two side that the card front
    • Back side of Memories & More card trimmed to measure 1/2" less on two sides than your card front
    • Scrap of Basic Black measuring at least 4" x 3/4"
    • Kraft 6" x 6" Paper for your image
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Chalk Marker or Craft White Refill, VersaMark and White Embossing Powder
  • Embellishments: Simply Elegant Trim - silver
  • Adhesives: Tear & Tape, Dimensionals, Stampin' Seal/Tombow
  • Tools:  Foam Mat (because this is a photopolymer stamp set), Paper Trimmer, Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Heat Tool, Scissors
Card Assembly:
  • Stamp your image in Memento Black ink on Kraft paper and colour each flower with one layer of the Chalk Marker for the whole flower, two layers for the middle and inner petals and three for just the inner petals. This will give definition and dimension to the different layers of petals.  Also use the Chalk Marker to colour the berries with one or two layers depending on how dark you want them. The Chalk Marker will fade a little as it dries.
  • Die cut this whole image using the co-ordinating die. Add Dimensionals to the back and set aside.
  • Adhere the piece trimmed from the back of the M&M card to the Basic Black cardstock and adhere this to the card front.
  • Take the silver trim and wrap it around your fingers a few times to create a few loops and attached this to the front of your card with Tear & Tape.
  • Remove the backings from your image and attached this to the card front over the silver trim.
  • Stamp your sentiment in VersaMark on the scrap of Basic Black cardstock and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Trim each end to an angle or however you prefer.

There is a video tutorial here showing exactly how it was created here on You Tube

So what did I do with the front of the Memories & More card?  I created a second card, of course!

For this one I trimmed down the front piece and added a Cinnamon Cider cardstock mat.  I coloured the flowers in Balmy Blue Ink and coloured the berries with Cinnamon Cider Blends, the holly leaves with the Soft Seafoam Blends and the other closed leaf in Petal Pink Blends.  Die cut and attached this with Dimensionals and then added this to a card base in Balmy Blue.
