Colour INKspiration Challenge #104 feat. Art In Bloom Stamp Set

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome, and thanks for popping in!

Colour INKspirations Challenge #104 is now open over on our Colour INKspiration Challenge Facebook Page.  The photo for this challenge was picked by fellow Crew Member, Rose Packer and our Guest Designer this challenge is the fabulous Tracy Held.

As well as the chosen colour combination for #CI104, ie Basic White, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black, you may also add neutrals and metallics to your project. We also allow ‘Ivory’ and ‘Bronze’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have all the colour palette, feel free to use the closest SU substitute.

My project for this Challenge was a stamped A4 sheet of Basic White cardstock which I have trimmed down to create four cards.  I wanted to see if I could create a stamped one-sheet-wonder using only two colours rather than the usual five or six.  Happy to say I'm stoked with the outcome. Using first and second generation stamping I was able to create more colour gradient.

The Art In Bloom stamp set is mainly featured but I will tell you all that I have carefully snipped the large three-flower image into separate flowers.   I personally felt the stamped images as they were, were too far apart and honestly, they will easily fit back together again if you want to use them as they were intended.

Supplies:
  • Stamp Set: Art In Bloom, Quiet Meadow (dottage), Inspiring Thoughts (sentiment on the cards)
  • Dies:  Messages Die, Painted Labels (for the cards),
  • Card Stock:  Basic White (for the stamping),  Cherry Cobbler, Memento Tuxedo Black, Basic White (for the cards)
  • Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Ribbon/Thread:  Linen Thread (for the cards)
  • Tools:  Acrylic Blocks, Paper Trimmer
  • Adhesives: Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals (for the cards)
Stamping:
  • All images are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Stamp the outline flower images randomly in groups of three
  • Stamp both outline leaf images around the outside of the flowers
  • Using the co-ordinating fill-in image, stamp the flowers in Cherry Cobbler, using second generation stamping to create a second tone.
  • Using the co-ordinating fill-in images, stamp the leaves in second and third generation Memento Black Tuxedo ink.
  • Stamp the smaller three-flower image around the larger three in Cherry Cobbler
  • Take the dottage stamp from Quiet Meadow (or any other dottage stamp you have) and stamp this in areas to fill in any white space between the flowers and around the edges to 'fill-out' the clusters.
To Make the Cards:
  • Trim down the cardstock into four equal pieces.  Mine measures 3/4" smaller than my card front. Keep the scraps as you can use these for the inside.
  • Glue this onto a mat layer that measures 1/8" larger on two sides.  This will give you a narrow 1/16" border on all four sides.
  • Wrap some linen thread around and tie a bow. To step it up, I added the open scallop from Painted Labels Dies and glued this down under the Linen Thread.
  • Stamp your sentiment on a scrap of Basic White cardstock and die cut with the Messages die.  To add definition, I added ink to the edges of my die cut.
  • Attach this to the front of your card with Dimensionals.
  • Trim down a piece of Basic White cardstock to fit the inside of your card. Add a strip of the stamped images trimmed away to the lower edge of the piece of Basic White cardstock and adhere to the inside of your card with Tombow Multipurpose Glue

Colour INKspiration Challenge #103 featuring Art In Bloom Bundle

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome, and thanks for popping in!

Colour INKspirations Challenge #103 is now open over on our Colour INKspiration Challenge Facebook Page.  The photo for this challenge was picked by fellow Crew Member, Cheryll Miller and our Guest Designer this Challenge is the very talented Karen Hadler.

As well as the chosen colour combination for #CI103, ie Bumblebee, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen, you may also add Basic White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Basic Black and metallics to your project. We also allow ‘Ivory’ and ‘Bronze’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have all the colour palette, feel free to use the closest SU substitute (ie: Crushed Curry instead of Bumblebee … you get the drift).

To get your creative ideas flowing, make sure you check out the Crew’s Project in the CI#102 Album - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...

My card uses the Art In Bloom Bundle from Stampin' Up! which features a brand new embossing/die cutting system where you can emboss and die together at the same time.  It's amazing!  The script stamp from Very Versailles Stamp Set has also been used for background texture on the card base.

Supplies Needed:

  • Stamp Sets: Art In Bloom Bundle (AC 2021-22), Very Versailles (AC 2021-22)
  • Cardstock:  Soft Succulent, Basic White, Evening Evergreen
  • Ink: Bumblebee, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Whisper White Craft Ink.
  • Embellishments: 2021-23 In Colour Jewells
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Stamparatus, Blending Brushes, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Specialty Plate (for use with 3D Embossing Folders)
  • Adhesives: Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Assembly:

  • Make a card base from Soft Succulent cardstock and using a Blending Brush, gently apply Whisper White Craft Ink down the centre of the front.
  • Stamp the script image from Very Versailles stamp set in Evening Evergreen in the centre of the card front.  Set aside.
  • Stamp two large and one of the double leaf images in Evening Evergreen ink and die cut using the co-ordinating dies.
  • Using the Stamparatus, stamp the triple flower image first in Pale Papaya ink removing the centre with a sponge dauber first then using a second dauber, apply Bumblebee ink to the centre and stamp again.  This will create a blended, multi-coloured flower.
  • Line up your stamped images with the co-ordinating dies and Hybrid Embossing Folder (I used washi tape to help with accurate allignment) and run it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
  • Take the largest flower and attach to the centre of your card front using Dimensionals.  Keep the other two flowers for use in a project in the future.
  • Arrange the leaves under the flower image, trimming if needed. Adhere using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Add some jewells in the Evening Evergreen colour.
  • Trim a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock 1/2" smaller on two sides than what the card measures and adhere this onto the inside base of your card.  Trim a piece of Basic White cardstock 1/8" smaller again on two sides and adhere this onto the piece of Evergreen cardstock.

Vintage Christmas featuring Evergreen Elegance Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Hello crafty friends! Welcome and thanks for popping in!

Recently I came across a monthly challenge on Facebook, where you need to create at least four Christmas cards by the 25th of each month using the guidelines set out for that month's challenge.  June's challenge is all about vintage which I absolutely love - it would be my favourite theme  for Christmas cards. The aim is to create four cards each month for the purpose of being more prepared for Christmas.

My cards were created using Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobler and Shimmery White and uses the Tidings of Christmas 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.

Supplies Needed:

  • Stamp Set: Evergreen Elegance
  • Dies:  Tailor Made Tags, So Many Snowflakes
  • Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Shimmery White
  • Designer Series Paper:  Tidings of Christmas 6"x6"
  • Inks:  Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White Craft Ink
  • Ribbon/Trim:  Gold Fine Art Ribbon, Linen Thread
  • Tools: Blending Brushes, Sponge Daubers Mini Cut & Emboss Machine,  Paper Trimmer, Stamparatus
  • Adhesives:  Tombow Liquid Glue, Glue Dots, Dimensionals
  • Other:  Gold jingle bells

To make up the card:

  • I began with a top-folding Crumb Cake card base.   Mine measures 4" x 11 1/2", scored @ 5 3/4". Stamp the bough image from Evergreen Elegance stamp set in second generation Crumb Cake ink in the top left and bottom right corners.
  • Trim a piece of Designer Series Paper to 3" x 4 3/4" and using a Blending Brush, gently inked up all four sides with Crumb Cake ink.  This was adhered to a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock measuring 2/8" larger on two sides - this allows a tiny 1/8" border on all sides. Adhere this to the card front using Tombow Liquid Glue.
  • Die cut the largest tag die from Tailor Made Tags in Shimmery White and, once again using a Blending Brush, gently ink up all four sides with Crumb Cake ink.  Using a Stamparatus for accurate placement, stamp the tree image in first generation Cherry Cobbler ink and stamp the 'Merry Christmas' in second generation.  Attached this to the front of the card with Dimensionals.
  • Die cut the smallest detailed snowflake from So Many Snowflake Dies in Crumb Cake cardstock and the second smallest detailed snowflake from Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Distress both of these using a Sponge Dauber and Whisper White Craft Ink.
  • Make a bow with each of the Gold Fine Art Ribbon and LInen Thread and join these together with a Glue Dot. Attach the Cherry Cobbler snowflake die cut on top of this also with a Glue Dot. Attached the Crumb Cake snowflake die cut on top of the cherry snowflake and finally attach a small gold jingle bell that has also been threaded with Linen Thread.  Attach this bow arrangement to the top of the tag with a Dimensional and extra Glue Dots.

Really pleased with how these have turned out and once you have all your bits and pieces die cut, inked and stamped, they really don't take that long to put together.

If I have inspired you to maybe join in the challenges, please feel welcome to pop over to Christmas Stampathon 2021 Facebook Group.  We're quite a friendly bunch and love to welcome new participants.
