Colour INKspiration Challenge #97 - Fancy Phrases Birthday Wishes

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome and thanks for popping in!

The photo credit for CI#97 is a personal photo by Phil Winterton from Gunnedah NSW, who is a friend of fellow CIC Crew Member Denita Wright-Smee and our Guest Designer is the very talented Jane Martin. Please go and check out Jane's amazing card over on our Colour INKspiration's Facebook Page

The card I have for you today was inspired by Eileen Godwin and uses a masking technique along with a little stencilling before stamping your image over the top. I used a little Basic Gray ink for my stencilling which is still withing Challenge Rules.

 Supplies Needed:

  • Fancy Phrases Stamp Set
  • Cardstock:  Basic White Thick A4
  • Ink:  Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Rococo Rose, Basic Gray, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Embellishments:  Aristry Blooms Sequins
  • Tools:  Basic Pattern Decorative Masks, Blending Brushes, Stamparatus, Paper Trimmer
  • Other:  Post-It Notes or use whatever your preferred masking tools may be.

Assembling the Card:

Trim a piece of card stock to form a card.

Use Post-It Notes or some other masking tools to form a triangle on the card front.

Masking off one section at a time, apply ink using a Blending Brush.

I like to squish my ink pad so that the ink transfers to the lid. I pick up my ink from here as I'm concerned with the long term effects of using the Blending Brushes directly on the stamp pads.  I would rather err on the side of caution.

Use a different Post-It Note for each colour to avoid contaminating your colours.

Remove the Post-It notes.

Take the damask pattern mask and apply Basic Gray ink over the whole area.

If you would rather your stencilling to stay within the triangle, you can leave your Post-It Notes on until after this step.

Stamp your image and sentiment.

I would recommend a heavier outlined stamp for your image for the best results

And lastly, add a few sequins for something special.
